Account & Data Deletion
If you wish to delete your Viddarpan account and associated personal data, please follow the guidelines outlined below. This process ensures compliance with global privacy regulations and Google Play Store policies.
Important Warning
Deleting your account is a permanent action. You will lose access to all educational records, communications, and historical data associated with your profile. This action cannot be undone.
1. How to Request Deletion
You can request account deletion through two primary methods:
Method A: In-App Deletion Request
- Open the Viddarpan app and log in.
- Navigate to Settings > Account.
- Tap on Request Account Deletion.
- Confirm your decision by entering your password.
Method B: Web Request
If you cannot access the app, you can submit a deletion request via our secure web form at /account-deletion/request.
2. What Data Gets Deleted
Upon verifying your deletion request, we will permanently delete the following personal data from our active databases:
- Your login credentials (username, password hashes).
- Your personal profile information (phone number, personal email).
- Device identifiers and session logs associated with your account.
3. What Data May Be Retained
Certain data cannot be deleted immediately due to regulatory, legal, and operational requirements. The following data will be retained:
- Academic Records: Grades, attendance, and official school transcripts must be retained by the educational institution according to state/national educational laws. This data belongs to the school, not Viddarpan.
- Financial Records: Records of fee payments are retained for accounting and tax compliance purposes for a minimum of 7 years.
- Audit Logs: Anonymized security logs are retained to maintain system integrity and investigate past security incidents.
4. Retention Periods
- Standard Deletion: Upon request, your personal app access account will be disabled within 48 hours. The physical deletion of associated personal data from backups may take up to 30 days.
- School-Owned Data: Retained indefinitely or until the school explicitly requests its destruction in accordance with their legal obligations.
