Our Privacy Philosophy
Viddarpan is built on the fundamental principle that educational data belongs to the school and its community. Our privacy philosophy is simple: We only collect the data necessary to provide our service, we protect it relentlessly, and we never monetize it.
1. No Advertising, Ever
Viddarpan is an ad-free platform. We do not display advertisements to students, parents, or teachers. Furthermore, we absolutely do not build behavioral profiles on students to sell to third-party marketers or advertisers. Our revenue comes solely from the software licensing fees paid by schools.
2. You Own Your Data
The school is the Data Controller. Viddarpan is merely the Data Processor acting on the school's behalf. We do not claim ownership of any student records, financial data, or communications stored on our platform.
3. Data Minimization
We design our features to collect only the minimum amount of personal data required to function. If a feature does not absolutely require a specific piece of personal information, we do not ask for it.
4. Transparency and Control
We provide school administrators with comprehensive dashboards to monitor exactly what data is in the system, who has access to it, and tools to export or delete that data at any time.
5. Compliance by Default
Viddarpan is designed to help schools comply with major educational privacy frameworks:
- FERPA (US): We provide the technical controls necessary for schools to manage directory information and restrict access to educational records.
- COPPA (US): We rely on the school to obtain parental consent for children under 13, and we do not use children's data for commercial purposes.
- GDPR (EU/UK): We support data portability, the right to erasure, and strict data processing agreements.
